Julian
Meetings The purpose
of Julian Meetings is to foster the practice and teaching of this prayer
of silence among ordinary, active, everyday Christians. There are well
over two hundred JM groups in the UK alone, and the message is spreading
abroad. The groups are Christ centred and ecumenical and are well backed
by leaders of all the major traditions. Do come and see if this way of
praying is for you. This course
is a study of the Bible, tracing themes through the Old Testament through
to Jesus looking at him as Priest, King, Prophet and Lord. It requires
the group to read a section of the Bible, look at some questions, but
not necessarily answer them, and come together to discuss. At the meetings
we begin with prayer, then listen to John Mckay (the author of the course)
on audio tape. The course has brought the Sunday readings alive to all
of us in our group. Inspired by the work of Matthew Fox, this groups meets regularly to explore Christianity in relation to ecological issues and other faith traditions. We have wide ranging interests: artistic, musical, literary. Enquirers welcome. See more information about this group.
